The Louisiana State Legislature is considering a bill that would modify the academic qualifications for individual title insurance producers. The bill, HB 75, was introduced by Rep. Beau Beaullieu, R-Iberia. It would retain the present law and add a certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited institution of postsecondary education as an academic qualifier for individual title insurance producers.
It amends R.S. 22:513(B)(3) to state that an individual title insurance producer “shall hold a high school diploma, a diploma for completion of a home study program approved by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, a high school equivalency diploma issued after successfully completing the test of general education development, or a certificate, diploma, or degree from an accredited institution of postsecondary education.”
