Lighthouse consent order provides lessons for MSAs

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) ordered Lighthouse Title, a Michigan title insurance agency, to pay $200,000 for illegal quid pro quo referral agreements. The consent order provides some clarification on how the bureau will view marketing services agreements (MSAs) in the future. In light of the consent order, there are several things title agents can do to ensure compliance.
